Lovely shaded areas for the van and trees to tie the dogs out, very quiet.

In short, its alright if you're stopping along the way, but I wouldn't go out of your way to camp there. There's plenty of flat ground and the grass is cut for you, leaving you plenty of lawn clippings which you're going to end up liking, because there is very little to none, kindling or wood of any sort really. The place is close to town, and surrounded by it, giving you the nice luxury of being able to walk to the shops, but doesn't leave much wilderness due to that fact. There's the river just by it, and a memorial or two. You're able to put in a canoe there, and that's kind of it. There are nice designated fire pits and picnic tables strewn about for somewhere sturdy to sit and eat. Its a fairly big sized location, perfect for caravans, but it doesn't feel like the right place to set up a tent; in fact, with it manicured grounds, proximity to town and picnic tables with not much else, it feels more like a park.

Loved it! Free camping along the river or off, fire places with BBQ on each & u can collect wood, river swimming with a safe spot for kids, peaceful fishing or walking areas. Beautiful wood carved statues are a must see in the town Centre. Along with a metal moving crayfish attraction for a gold coin donation at the public playground. Lots of fun to be had. Can't wait to visit again.

Looks like it would be a ok place for a family summer weekend camp. A little too popular for my taste. But it could have just been a mobile home convention that weekend. However, as a stop off the highway for the night...perfect.

Looking at Amanda Newell's photo, that is the same campsite we used. Unfortunately, when we were there it was miserably wet the whole time. Reasonable drop toilet here, mostly level sites, lots of shade (or dripping trees, depending on weather :) ) Still, got in some walks down to the river and up to town to see the wood carvings (if into them, Google "Father Woods Park", north of Coonawarra SA and visit if you can). Would be a place we would like to spend longer, weather permitting.
